APC Initiatives’ Career Buddy app aims to improve education outcomes in South Africa. It is an online psychometric tool matches the learners’ strengths and characteristics to career opportunities, and ranks prioritised careers choice using a scientific methodology.
APC Initiatives founders, More Siziba and Que Madikizela conducted extensive research to understand the importance of career guidance in schools. Even though career guidance expos and lectures are done through Life Orientation subjects, students still have insufficient information about career opportunities. Consequently, students as well as parents are unable to make informed decisions which compromises the career choices made.
The app gives feedback on the students’ academic and extra curriculum performance. It also gives feedback on the students’ conduct in school. In addition, using the primary information on the students’ performance, the app will conduct career assessment as well as career guidance service.
